Elden H. Barrow’s Scholarship Fund

The late Elden H. Barrows was a founding member of the Brothers of the Brush and the first president and leader of the organization during Mendon’s 300th Anniversary Celebration. In his honor we have established this scholarship program to provide awards to graduating seniors in Mendon who have demonstrated a commitment to community service. The funds can be used for higher education expenses or to purchase tools and materials for those entering a trade. The scholarship aims to support local students in their educational and career pursuits, reflecting the values of service and community that Elden H. Barrow embodied

Flags of Honor

A heartfelt initiative that honors the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. Every other year, residents have the opportunity to purchase a flag in honor of a friend or loved one who has served or is currently serving. These flags are proudly displayed along Main Street, adding a poignant touch to the town’s patriotic celebrations. The program not only beautifies the town but also serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by service members. The program fosters a sense of community and gratitude, ensuring that the contributions of our heroes are never forgotten.

Access for All

A program dedicated to enhancing mobility and independence for community members in need. This initiative focuses on acquiring and installing wheelchair ramps for residents who face accessibility challenges. By providing these essential modifications, the Brothers ensure that everyone, regardless of physical limitations, can navigate their homes and participate fully in community life. The program reflects the Brothers’ commitment to inclusivity and support, making a tangible difference in the lives of those they serve.

Harvest of Hope

A heartfelt initiative aimed at supporting families in need during the holiday season. Each year, the Brother’s members pay out of their own person pockets to come together to purchase and distribute Thanksgiving dinners for those in need. Ensuring that more local residents in the community can enjoy a warm and festive meal. By reaching out to those in need, the Brothers embody the spirit of giving and community, making Thanksgiving a truly special time for all

Christmas Caroling

Every Christmas season, we bring joy and warmth to the community through some heartfelt caroling. Dressed in festive attire, our members visit local senior homes and neighborhoods, singing classic Christmas carols and spreading holiday cheer. This cherished tradition not only brightens the spirits of our neighbors but also strengthens the bonds within our community.

Christmas Gift

Each Christmas season, the Mendon Brothers of the Brush extend their generosity by sponsoring a family in need within our community. Through this heartfelt initiative, we purchase toys and gifts for the children of the chosen family in the hopes they experience the magic and joy of the holiday season. Our members work tirelessly to identify a family who could use a little extra cheer and make their Christmas morning special.
